My History:

My experience with health and fitness began in 1998 when, at 16, I joined a Tae Kwon Do club. After 4 years I experimented with Lau Gar Kung Fu, Jiujitsu and Karate, then whilst I was living in Twickenham I joined PKA kickboxing. Training under Cimac gold medallist Andrew Morrissey, I was immensely proud to obtain my 1st Dan (black belt) in the sport. I then trained in kickboxing and MMA at TMAC before moving to Brighton.

My Philosophy:

Humans have evolved to be able to perform many physical tasks, such as picking up heavy objects, throwing and many more. However with the rise in technology and mechanisation, our bodies are not being exposed to these movements (try washing a double quilted duvet by hand, its heavy work!).

This is where training comes in, by training movement patterns using the right equipment, we can realise our bodies true potential.

Years of diverse training have given me a broad knowledge of training systems and i specialise in using strength and conditioning to make my clients stronger, more powerful, healthier, pain free and more confident with their bodies.

Personal Training

What is Personal Training

What is Personal Training

Based at Hove Fitness in Hove, UK. Make the most of your training and gym membership through one to one or two to one coaching sessions.

Use resistance training, anaerobic cardio, bodyweight exercises, traditional cardio and more. Includes access to the online training app.

I also do no contact kickboxing and padwork sessions.

Resistance Training

Resistance Training

Whether you want to grow muscle, lose fat or feel fitter and healthier, the backbone of achieving your goal is in your resistance training.

Benefits include an increase in healthy lean muscle, improved bone density, stronger and healthier joints, and more confidence!

Using barbells, dumbbells, machines and simple bodyweight, we train basic to advanced movement patterns using the system of progressive overload.

Progressive overload is a fancy way of saying the workouts get very slightly harder over a period of time, so that by the time you finish a program you have made a measurable improvement in your physical performance.

Training Cardio

Training Cardio

Put simply, cardio training is heart training and a healthy heart is great for obvious reasons.

Like mucles and joints, too much too quick is risky and common sense with good programming should be used if you want to see progress.

Traditional forms of cardio are outdoor activities or machines such as the rowing machine, treadmill and cross trainer.

However there is also anaerobic cardio training. Examples include battle ropes, sled pushes/pulls and slam balls.

Even traditional resistance training is great cardio when used appropriately.

Long story short, cardio is alot more varied and potentially more fun than just jogging on a treadmill.

Food, Water, Sleep and Active Recovery

Food, Water, Sleep and Active Recovery

No program works unless it is supported by nutrition and recovery. No matter how hard you work!

Guidance is given on improving sleep patterns, water intake, food and rest day activity.

If you regularly come into training feeling more tired or weeker than you did last time, you are not recovering properly which is normally because the basic requirements as mentioned above are not being met.

From general guidance to calorie and macro programming, support and advice on all these topics is given as part of your training.

What to Expect

What to Expect

A typical session starts with a check in on how you have been getting on with your program and how you feel about your training and any other questions you may have.

We then move onto movement prep and warming up, making sure your heart, joints and central nervous system are ready for the workout.

Once the warm up is done we're onto the main event, the workout! The aim is for them to be challenging but not to feel impossible.

Finally we finish off with any stretching or remedial exercises required before going over further key points for the week.
